A malfunction was preventing parking kiosks in Philadelphia from accepting credit card payments Thursday afternoon, the city Parking Authority reported.
The problem was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. and resolved around 7:30 p.m., a PPA spokesman said.
The kiosks had been having problems wirelessly transmitting credit card payments, PPA said. Cash and coins still worked, as did payments through the MeterUp mobile app.
During the outage, parkers were given a 15-minute grace period to get cash and pay the meter before they received a ticket, PPA Executive Director Vince Fenerty said. Anyone ticketed within that period should contact PPA customer service at sruiz@philapark.org or call the city's Parking Violations Branch at 1-888-591-3636. There will be a way to submit a kiosk receipt to confirm payment within that 15-minute period.
