The Town of Boone and the Downtown Boone Development Association is ramping up its educational campaign regarding the parking meters that will line downtown Boone this summer. A website devoted to parking in downtown and other materials will be available in the near future.

Here’s a letter that Downtown Boone Development Association penned to merchants and property owners listing details regarding the transition and important details regarding dates, times and meter fees.

Starting this spring, Town of Boone staff and ips group Parking & Telecommunications will install new smart parking meters for all on-street parking in downtown Boone.

Following many years of community dialog regarding parking in downtown Boone, a parking task force composed of community and business leaders was formed and made recommendations to the Boone Town Council in June 2010. With recommendations from the parking task force and the Downtown Boone Development Association, the Boone Town Council made the decision, at the September 2013 Town Council meeting, to install smart parking meters for on-street parking in downtown.

We realize that there may be some growing pains associated with this new parking management system; however, the DBDA Board and the Town of Boone is dedicated to helping make this transition a success. Please feel free to contact Virginia Falck at any time with any questions or concerns.
